Choose the best herbs and formulations to alleviate a range of symptoms, from coughing to muscle cramps, and learn the best preparations to maximize the effectiveness of each herb.

The safe and effective use of herbs takes more than simply knowing the herb’s attributes; it takes knowing when to use which plant. This is a separate skill set, one based on critical thinking that incorporates physical assessment. For example, is the cough wet or dry? Is there excess muscle tension? Is the pain throbbing or shooting? By using guiding questions to come up with a list of symptom qualities, and blending that with a basic knowledge of herbal energetics, readers will be able to determine which herbs and formulations to use for each type of symptom. Written by an herbalist and nurse practitioner, this accessible quick-reference guide features more than 100 herbs that address 36 different symptoms.
