A family in peril takes to the road in this thrilling and emotional American epic, perfect for fans of Kristin Hannah, Chris Whitaker, and Amor Towles.

“I loved the man and I wanted to kill him. What’s so hard to understand about that?”

On the day she spots her first gray hair, Savannah Cody announces her desire to find and kill Edward “Nickel” Terhune. Once the love of her life—and the father of her only child, Alford—he is now the getaway driver for the notorious Brady Gang, a wanted criminal with an enticing bounty set on his head. With Alford and her father, Wendell, a retired railroad detective, Savannah sets out to journey across an America marked by the Great Depression, from rural farms to posh resorts and north to Maine as summer edges toward fall.

Out in front, Nickel is a man on the run. As the authorities—and Savannah—close in, and as the Brady Gang races for fame and fortune, Nickel desperately seeks a path that will hide his sins and save a future. But the maps don’t show him one quite like that.

For Alford, the journey is a discovery of all the forces that shape his own identity—at times exhilarating, at times painful, but at last revealing his family’s truth.

Die Famous is a dazzling family epic, a sweeping testament to American dreams and heartbreaks, and a novel that showcases why William Kent Krueger has said “Michael Koryta is simply one of today’s finest authors, period.”
